Miyata versus Miata

A long time ago I received a phone call from the lawyer of Mazda in Canada, He asked me, as Canadian Representative of Miyata Bicycles ,if they could use the name Miata for their cars. I answered him that I had to contact Mr.Hideo Miyata in Chigasaki, Japan to ask for permission. I thought that Miyata would ask for some kind of payment for the use of the Trade Mark"Miyata" that sound like Miata. I phoned my friend ,Hideo Miyata, and explained the situation to him. He replied don't worry. Let them use the name. We are part of Matsushita Corporation and they use our electronic components in their cars. A very simple answer that I understood with no major questioning. Japanese Companies are very loyal to their associates and work together in harmony.

Incredible but true,
Best regards.

The flying pyramid

About 17 years ago I was in my Bicycle Distribution place in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. It was winter time with not much to do for bicycle sales. I was really bored . Then a saw a cardboard pyramid on my desk. I wandered why there are pyramids in different parts of the world, Mexico,Central America, Egypt etc. I took the cardboard pyramid in my hands and then I picked up 2 pins . One I put on the top and the other in the bottom(right in the center). I started to blow and make it spin. I had an electric fan, and I put the pyramid right in front of the air flow. The pyramid turned so fast that I decided to take out the pins at the top and the bottom at the same time. The pyramid flew in a straight path all the way across my warehouse. I had shown that a vehicle with a pyramidal shape could fly. If you look the pyramid from the bottom when it is flying you will see a disc shape. I realized that many hundred of years ago people saw these strange flying vehicles landing in different places, and when they saw the pilots and crew they called them gods.
Incredible but maybe true.

The hard to find tractor

When I was in the mountains of Chile on my Farm in Vilches, I was working in the forest collecting wood to make lumber with the saw mill. I had to find a tractor to move the big logs from the forest to the mill. It was very hard to find one. I went up and down with my friend, Gilberto Ayala looking for a tractor. We went to Vilches Bajo, Vilches Centro, and there was not a tractor available. Meanwhile , while we were in Vilches Centro we decide to visit the sister of Gilberto. He had not seen her for many years. As soon as we arrived at her home, we noticed that she had been sick for more than a week with a terrible diarrhea . As soon as we went to Vilches Alto we hurried up to go visit the paramedic in order to get some medicine for her. The paramedic asked me a few questions about her symptoms, and he decided to go back with me to see the sick lady. It was a very good move, because the lady was very sick and if we waited too long she could die . The paramedic injected IV and he promised to came back next day to be sure that she was fine.
(Well ,next day a driver on one of the best tractor in the area showed up ,ready to work). The thing was that the sick lady is his mother in law. Sometimes when you do something good for somebody you get an instant reward.
Incredible but true.

Air Canada flight AC 0092

This is the most recent story . It happened on November 28/2006. I had bought a ticket well in advance to travel to Chile, and when I arrived at the airport, 3 hours early , I found out with great surprise that I did not have a seat reservation. They put me on a waiting list and sent me to the terminal to wait for a seat. Meanwhile I was waiting, I phoned my wife , to tell her that I would probably stay at the airport to wait for the next plane,.As soon as I hung up I ran to the front desk to insist on a seat. Thank God they had a seat for me. Then I went to the phone again to tell my wife that I was ready to go to Chile. While I waited for the departure I took a seat next to a gentleman who happened to be Pastor Glen Forsberg from Fort McMurray,Alberta, Canada. He was traveling on the same flight . I asked him the purpose of his trip .He said : "I am going to Argentina to give lectures on the Bible". "Oh", I said ,that is very good. Do you speak Spanish? "No" he said;" I will ask somebody to translate for me". Well I said I will help you. I have a Bible in Spanish and English. I opened the Bible and with great surprise he found that it was at the text he was to read in Argentina. I asked him what seat he had on the plane. He replied "33 F ".Well ,I told him ,"I have 33 E". What a coincidence!Incredible but true with 300 people on the plane I was there to help him.
