EARTHQUAKE IN CHILE 2010

I just came back from Chile, I left the Santiago Airport 3 hours before the quake, in Chile, the house of my cousin Juan Pablo in Talca was completely destroyed,the bed where I used to sleep when I was in there, was crushed by the ceiling ,I flew in LAN Chile, the Air Canada Flight was cancelled because a bird got into the turbine, I feel bad for all the passengers that were grounded in Santiago.
Everything was perfect for Gloria and I, very good timing.
Incredible but true.

Museo Vicente Parra , Oliva , Valencia, Spain(closed for renovations)

After a long trip from Malaga finally I arrived to Oliva, Oliva is a town that is open and dynamic,a town in which its past and its historic quarters contrast sharply with its dynamic new avenues and beautiful boulevards.This wealth of cultural heritage and its thriving industry extend right down to Oliva beach, a tourist magnet with a huge range of accomodation whose main attraction is its unspoilt coast, I went directly to the Tourist Info Oliva and two nice girls helped me to find an Hotel"Hostal Tropical" own by a grandmother and her grandson, they helped me to find my lost relatives: Paco Soria Parra owner of a bicycle store EL VALENCIANO www.elvalenciano.net
The bad news the Museum was closed for renovations, the good news my cousin owns a bicycle store, the bicycle business runs in the family, incredible but true.

I have tickets to travel to Spain in October, I wrote before about my trip to Malaga Spain to visit the land of my ancestors , searching in the internet I look for my distant family member Vicente Parra and I found it that he was a Famous Movie Actor, also I found that there is a Museum in his memory in Oliva, I hope to visit the museum to know about my distant family member.

The importance of the right bicycle saddle

As many of you know reading my blog, I am a cyclist for life.

I just had an operation for prostate cancer done by Dr.Stanley Flax, the surgery went well and the stay at the NORTH YORK GENERAL HOSPITAL in Toronto,Canada (5 days) was very new for me, first time in an Hospital since I was born 66 years ago.

At the Hospital they keep asking me if I am allergic or what kind of medicine I used to have, I replied all the time:" Mint Tea when I have a stomach ache" and no allergies.

They hooked me at a Computerised Machine that supposed to give me all the medicine and nutrients I needed after my surgery and the most important gadget was a device that I had to click every time I had pain, this device sent directly to my blood stream the exact amount of Morphine.

They where very surprised that I did not use this gadget to often, but according to my knowledge and experience you do not need to abuse the pain killers.

Well thanks to my healthy life, my stay at the Hospital was short and pleasant(my sincere thank's to all the people at the Hospital).

Now the point is: If you want to avoid prostate cancer surgery, start to use now the Holey Saddle, for me was too late, I used to have this hard leather saddles since I was 6 years old (my first race ) up to 19 years old my last race, I did very well racing, I was Chilean Champion in my category many times.

The incredible thing about this story was that I did the Trade Mark Registration of my own brand HOLEY SADDLE 15 years ago, without knowing that I will needed in the future.

The Last Frame Builder in Chile-SAMUEL DEL VALLE

Samuel del Valle is the last frame builder in Chile, his father made my Track Racing Bicycle, they worked for my Father Bicycle Company and they help us a lot to learn how to make good bicycles.
I visited in his house in Chile and I took a few pictures of him.

Spanish Translation:
Samuel Del Valle es el unico sobreviviente de la Familia Del Valle los famosos soldadores y maestros del arte de hacer marcos de bicicletas, su padre y sus hermanos trabajaron en la Industria de mi Padre y ellos nos ayudaron a aprender a hacer los mejores marcos(cuadros) de bicicletas.
Estan fotos fueron tomadas en su casa en el 2008.

LAN CHILE FLIGHT 532

I went to Chile via Lan Chile Airlines, on the way to Chile I went through New York no problem, then to Santiago Chile.
I had a wonderful time in Chile, Summer time there winter in Canada, I left Toronto with a very painful knee, as soon as I arrived in Chile and then to Vilches(Little Canada Ranch) the pain was gone, I went fishing , up and down the mountains, got a nice suntan and I came back to Toronto full of energy, healthy and happy to see my wife and family.
On the way back to Toronto from Santiago we went through the New York Airport, ""IT WAS A NIGHTMARE", a long line up was waiting for us, immigration,customs and security check(no matter we were Canadians passengers on transit).
Finally we arrived at Gate 5 for our departure to Toronto(1 hour and 30 minutes later), I tried to call Gloria(my wife in Toronto) and I did not have American coins to use the phone, I went to a store and I begged for change from Canadian Dollar's to American with no luck, suddenly my life changed from frustration to happiness, a nice lady from U.S.A gave me the US$1 in coins to call home, a very happy ending.

This Park is located South of Steeles and East of Dufferin, this is our favorite park to go cycling with Gloria, this Summer we found a Deer that ignored us when we passed by, nice park and closed to everybody, it is incredible that you find wild animals inside of the great city of Toronto.

Too much hamlet for me

Long time ago I was approached by Lois to help her with her movie, 19 years later the movie is still not finished, or if it it ready, I do not know . I always have faith and I think some day will be ready and the world will see a very touching movie that will make them to have a different view of the actual world, I think some changes are happening right now, but with a lot of patience we will see the results.

According to Lois she believes that 2009 will be a good year for"To Much Hamlet for me". She expect to be in Toronto in the New Year, to work on the sound and she will let me know when it happens, Spanish translation and subtitling are on the above list.

Long time ago a good friend gave me a book that was published in 1995 by Mitchell-Edges & Honey, yesterday I was watching a movie Indiana Jones and the crystal skull(I think this was the name of the movie) and in some part mentioned Frederick Albert Mitchel-Hedges, then I remembered that I have a book, I look in my drawers and I found it, also I noticed that was autographed by his Daughter I think this book has the real story of the Skull of Doom that is made of pure rock crystal and according to the scientists it must taken over 150 years, generation after generation working all the days of their lives,patiently rubbing down with sand an immense block of rock crystal until finally the perfect Skull emerged.
It is at least 3,600 years old and according to leyend was used by the Hight Priest of the Maya when performing esoteric rites.

Racing in Motorcycle(May 26/1963)

In 1963 I was very young as you can see in the picture, one day my friend Julio Anuch showed up in Talca and he wanted to race in his motorcycle, I fixed his Jawa and I made it ready for racing.
Next day we went to the Velodrome and everybody was ready to race. My friend chickened out. He saw so many accidents that he gave up. Well I told him I would do it, the race started and every body thought it was Julio racing, even my girlfriend, Gloria. But with a big surprise she noticed it was me. After the race I took my helmet off and she saw me. Well the good thing was I won the race and everybody clapped. Sometimes you can accomplish something unexpectedly.

How I met Hilda Jones

About 5 years ago in Toronto, Canada, I rescued an elderly lady who was exhausted at a neighbourghood landromat beside my Bicycle Store. It was on a hot day of July.
When I asked her name she replaid"Hilda Jones".
" Oh," I said you are the grandmother of Indiana Jones."
She vociferously denied it."How can I be the grandmother of Indiana Jones when I am a single lady?"
Well, I said "for me you are the grandmother of Indiana Jones. He is a fictitious person and you are his grandmother.
Well, to shorten my story , she became the Editor for my Incredible Stories.
